When Theo said the throwaway line ''She [Isla] is deteriorating with Britain'' I think you missed an opportunity to discuss how Isla represents Holy Island. To start, Isla as a name derives from the word 'island', connecting her character to Holy Island. With this in turn highlighting how, as Theo says, Isla's regression of mental ability represents the drastic and possibly terminal regression taking place at Holy Island seen in their middle England 50s aesthetic. Furthermore, I find there's an irony within this with the infected being the only community evolving. Despite the humans remaining relatively stable, they regress backwards while the infected move forward. With this in mind I predict that the coming sequels will build off this theme of regression, with us seeing an infected more evolved then the alpha.
I have yet to watch this film. Waiting for release to VHS. However, in the meantime I have watched the 2 prequels which, due to my fear of scary films , passed me by. 28 yrs later, I'm ready. Plus it stars Cillian Murphy....
So in answer to the questions..
1. Nope. The definition in the dictionary, Oxford not urban. A zombie is a corpse revived witchcraft, or a cocktail made of rum and additional juices.
2. I have neither the time nor the inclination to be bothered to Google what that means.. and so all I will say is that this virus was not spread by the Ceasar
3. This is a British film for all people who want to be British - My pronouns are Kit and Kat
