I found it obnoxious and annoying haha. I think the Safdie Brothers style works fantastic with situations that are naturally propulsive (like running from the police), but I think it's just fake high-pitched when a guy is essentially moving around a city visiting people in rundown offices.
Good Time was one of the most surprising movies I have ever seen, so it will always have a soft spot in my heart. It's also when I realized Robert Pattinson was destined to return to glory after he disappeared following Twighlight.
I think with the Safdie Brothers, if they lose the viewer in the first 1/3 of the movie, the stress factor immediately disappears and it's like watching obnoxious sports talk radio for an hour and a half.
Anyway, just my opinion, and I realize I am in the minority on Uncut Gems. It was a case where I completely disagreed with most pundits, but everyone I read included it as a top movie of that year.
The Safdie Brothers, creators of one of my Top-10 favorite movies (Good Time) and one of my Top-10 least favorite movies (Uncut Gems)
Uncut Gems: mesmerizing chaos with a Oneohtrix Point Never soundtrack - best, yet most stressful film of 2019.
