Directed by Hayao Miyazaki
Japan, 2023
As promised in our last review ReidsonFilm are back with yet another podcast. Having watched and loved Isao Takahata’s Grave of the Fireflies (take a look at those scores) we took a trip down the Yellow Brick Road to our local picture palace, and watched the new film by that other great animator from Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki. Ten years after announcing his retirement from film production he is back, and in this podcast we review The Boy and the Heron but you will also hear about Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, and of course(!) The Shining. We also tackle the great debate of our time: subs v dubs. Enjoy…
